The Emily Masser Quintet
We welcome The Emily Masser Quintet. Emily is a 21-year-old jazz singer and saxophonist from Wigan, currently at London’s Guildhall School of Music and making a name for herself on the UK jazz scene. Her breakthrough came as a member of The Clark Tracey Quintet and the release of their acclaimed album, ‘Introducing Emily Masser’.
Taking jazz standards, like ‘So Near So Far’ and ‘The Man I Love’, Emily’s arrangements and vocals makes them sound newly minted and excitingly different. Her latest single, "I’m Old Fashioned" captures Emily’s strengths as an arranger and vocalist as well as her terrific scat singing drawing on influences and inspirations such as Annie Ross, Betty Carter, and Sonny Stitt.
‘Young vocalist Emily Masser is one of the most original and
distinctive musicians to emerge on the current British scene.’(Jazzwise).
Her all-star group includes her dad, Dean Masser (saxophone), Richard
Weatherall (piano), James Owston (bass) and Gaz Hughes (drums)
