The Weave (23rd April 2014)
This sextet from Liverpool crackled and fizzed with energy. Their front line of two trumpets and a guitar marked them as different, and their repertoire consisted entirely of original compositions - with one exception the work of trumpeter and leader Martin Smith.
The Weave were electrifying and triumphant, and had the audience shouting their appreciation.
The Revolutionaires (2nd April 2014)
The Revolutionaires are described as a "sizzlin' hot rhythm and blues combo." This is exactly right - but doesn't give any idea of how visual this band is to see live. They dress the part, looking sharp and smart. They employ comedy business and choreography. They've got their stuff down to a 'T', playing high-energy, riff driven numbers with an infectious beat and irresistible swagger.
Stuart McCallum Trio with The Real Strings (5th March 2014)

Josh Kemp Quartet (5th February 2014)
Those of us who ignored the February rain to hear this group were amply rewarded. We heard music-making of the highest order from four superbly accomplished musicians.
