The Firebird Quartet (17th February, 2016)

In their second appearance at The Cask, The Firebird Quartet showed much musical intelligence and a lot of appropriate fire. They played an interesting and varied repertoire with zest and skill and deserve national recognition.

The Shannon Reilly Trio (13th January 2016)

This group presents a complete package to the listener. With excellent musicianship, infectious swing and relaxed confidence, all laced together with humour, they give an enjoyable experience.

Shannon Reilly is a skillful singer who commands attention. Pat McCarthy is a guitarist whose technical ability is married to great sensitivity. Warren Jolly plays the double bass with dextrous skill and keeps solid time.

The best jazz performances happen when the musicians obviously love what they do.
 
This trio clearly showed that they wanted nothing more than to be playing for us, and the audience responded with enthusiastic warmth.

The Jackson - Hoggard Sextet (27th May 2015)

Drummer Mike Hoggard brought this band to The Cask to celebrate his birthday and they generated a happy party atmosphere.  They played an interesting repertoire with enthusiasm and zest.
